In Nepal, when parents go to prison, their children go with them if they do not have a guardian.
Taking Flight is an Educational Campaign for Nepal Prisons. In 2016, The Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) & Air Amber embarked on a Social Enterprise Project titled Butterfly Books; a series of 6 children's books written and illustrated by the Youth Leaders of ECDC.
As children who once found themselves in this unfortunate circumstance, the drive behind this project was to provide inspirational value-based books as an educational tool for children who are still currently in the prisons.
'From Beneficiary to Contributor' was the ethos behind the Butterfly Books. This social enterprise effort led by the young authors will form the first line of income for ECDC outside of donations, taking a step towards self-sustainability! But, more importantly, their dream is to inspire the children in prison through their stories while also providing educational opportunities. Make this dream a reality by sponsoring a set (or more!) of Butterfly Books.
Each sponsored set is $120 (Retail price: $84), which accounts for additional costs such as shipping fees, translation from English to Nepali & more. All remaining proceeds will directly support ECDC in its prison project.
